April

Hi everyone,

First of all: Happy Birthday Dad!!!

I am currently in Wellington, which is in the south of the Northen Island. Is it beaufitul here, the town looks a lot like San Fransisco, with is beautiful pastel coloured wooden houses. The weather is getting colder and more windier everyday, so I am considering buying even more sweaters.

I will show you all some pictures of the last couple of days and I hope I will be able to tell you all (I have to remember to post more often) what I did the last couple of days.

The last couple of days were all about nature. We visited some beautiful reservates and walked around so many different kinds of landscapes.

Saturday we went to a beautiful geothermal site. We first went to some kind of mud pool, with disgusting smelling mud. It was like someone was boiling a big pot of grey soup, which smelled like rotten eggs and fireworks.

The park itself was lovely. The smell was awful, but the beauty of the sulphur lakes compensated for that. The lakes and the rocks were all kinds of beautiful yellows, greens and oranges.

This pool actually was neon-yellow.(Sorry for the poor photo). I had never seen anything close like it and I'm sure I probably never will.

Then we went to see some falls, just because there are waterfalls everywhere around here. The water was this beautiful tropical-swimming-pool kind of blue and we were all amazed by the speed of the water.

Sunday we went to mount Doom. (Yes the Lord of the rings Mount doom). It is the dark mountain in the background. Some of us decided to do a 18-km crossing while others (including me) decided to do some more shorter hikes.

Yesterday we had a free day off to explore the city. I really love it, like I mentioned before and I wish I was here in summer, because I can tell the city is even so much more beautiful then.

The city has this beautiful harbour, which is really photogenetic and I thus love.

We also went to the botanical gardens and the rose gardens. I don't think I have ever seen so many roses next to eachother.

Flesh-eating plants!!!!

This bring us to today. We had to wake up at 9 and we left at 10 to got to Kapiti Island. When we arrived, we found out that the ferry didn't went because of the bead weather (it is storming like crazy out here). So we decided to go to a wildlife park, to see some kiwi's:) (The birds, not the fruit). But not after we made a quick stop on the beach, to enjoy the stormy weather.

The wildlife center was great. It is weird how adjusted we all are to the nature around here. We all got used to these amazing plants and rainforests.

This animal comes from the age of the dinosaurs and is still alive now. Wow! It is really cute and has a soft skin actually.

There are these weird hopping birds just walking around everywhere.

See you all soon!!!

Hi everyone!

Here is another short blog:) New Zeland is just too beautiful to spend my time behind the screen of my computer:)

Tuesday was our last free afternoon in Auckland, and we decided we were going to spend it by relaxing. And we did:)

We went to this really cool second hand shop, that also sold a lot of new clothes and books. Really cool:)

After this, we took the ferry to Devonpoint, a island near Auckland. The island is known for it's cute shops and the beatiful view from the volcano.

That evening, we had dinner at the sky tower. It was a really large tower, and the top spins around with 1 revelation per hour, so you can see the entire city from above.
it was just beautiful.

The visit to Wairakei Geothermal Power station was really nice as well. :)
Look at these lovely clouds:)

I really need to blog more often, because I forget about things so easily.

I will tell you all a long and boring story about yesterday though.

Yesterday morning we had to wake up at 6:45 am (!) to go to Shweeb. Shweeb is a company that hase made a cycling monorail, which is pretty cool. It was based in a sort of adventure park, so we got to do all kinds of cool things. After that, we went to Rotorua and we decided we could to with some relaxation, so we went to this beautiful spa. It was one of the 10 best spa's of the world and I can really tell why. The water was lovely, really hot, which forced you to relax, and the pools had this amazing view of the lake, with steam coming off of it:) After that we had dinner at the Maori Village. We had a traditional Maori meal, that was cooked for two hours beneath the ground. The Maori sang their traditional songs and it was really lovely. The village was so beaufitul and I am really happy I was able to be a part of that.

It's saturday today, so we don't have any company visits. This afternoon we are going to some beautiful field and walk around there, and after that we are going out for dinner. Tomorrow we will do a crossing (hike) of 8 hours, so that will be pretty tough.

See yall soon!

And just some more pictures:)

New Zealand

Hi everyone,

First of all, sorry for this long due post. I just been having such a good time and didn't feel like getting behind a computer. Second, I haven't found a way to upload my pictures just yet. It is hard to find a computer that supports .raw files. (And yes, I shoot in raw). But I took some pictures in JPEG as well, which I'll upload in this post (just scroll down).

But about the trip (that is what this blog is supposed to be about anyway). Friday and Saturday consisted of mostly traveling. It wasn't all that bad though.

The food was nice (really decent actually), the flight personnel was hilarious. They were being so ridiculously nice, asking me if I needed a drink or something else for every five minutes. The flight seat had a TV in it as well. Of course I had to play Pokemon, geek that I am. I also watched some movies, Black Swan (love), Harry Potter 7(okay) and Sex, Love and other drugs ( I don’t recall if that was the exact title, but it sucked)

Day one. The jetlag was awful, the weather was awesome. Not too cold, not too hold, just the perfect weather to explore Auckland. I really love the vibe of the city, it is a mixture of San Fransico and it also reminds me of the game GTA Vice City. (But that might be because the girls are all wearing ridiculously short shorts and the guys are driving stolen cars and they are drunk all the time). We just strolled around the city, went to the harbor, ate a lunch at Subway (I love their smoothies) and then went to two really beautiful parks. We just laid in the sun, enjoying the weather and gasping at all the amazingly beautiful trees and flowers.

Today was day two and it started of with a visit to Marshden Point Refinery, which was quite nice. They had this huge (and I mean really huge) scale model of the entire factory and then we got a tour with our bus. I got a stomach-turning large amount of Curry. After this, we went to some beautiful waterfalls. There also was a path between the tree tops and we were all amazed to find ourselves in some sort of semi- rain forest.

Chinese for dinner and now I am going to bed J

Bye bye and see you all soon!

Girls day

Yesterday was my last Saturday in the Netherlands before I go to NZ, so we decided to make it a fun day/night (We = Anouk, Anne, Annelies, Celine and me).

Lalalalala it is spring, lovely weather, blossoming trees, music, yes, spring.

We ate some delicious fresh strawberries. Yum

Anouk, with her ultra cute polkadot coat:)

Dinner <<<333 wok to go:)

Friends :)

I can't stop taking pictures of the blossom, it is just too pretty.

We all got icecream, Anouk got Ciambella and ??, Anne got Oreo and Yoghurt, and I got Oreo (best thing ever) and Crocantino (the little nuts-thingies they put on the side of birthday cakes, mmyum)

We sat next to the city canal and talked, relaxed en enjoyed the weather and our icecream.

After that, Anne and I went to the Sally O'Briens, we used to go there when we were 15/16 and it was fun being there again.

We met up with Celine and Annelies and went to a movie that I forgot the title of. It was some sort of standard Hollywood romantic comedy with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. Y'all know which one I mean:)

And now I really should get some sleep...
